Sweet Home - SYML

Hello everyone, and welcome to yet another tutorial on a SYML song—this time, it's Sweet Home!

As with previous lessons, I won’t be giving too many instructions, since the song is based on a single fingerpicking pattern that stays consistent throughout. The left hand only plays simple chords, so we’ll focus mostly on the right hand technique.

To start, you won’t need your ring finger at all. As usual, the thumb handles the three lower strings, with two small exceptions: in measures 27 and 55, the D on the fourth string (the fourth-to-last note in each measure) should be played with the index finger instead.

Keep in mind this important detail: when the first note of the arpeggio falls on the fourth string (to be played with the thumb), the following dyad should be played using the thumb on the third string and the middle finger on the first. On the other hand, when the arpeggio starts on the fifth or sixth string (again, played with the thumb), you'll want to play the next dyad using the thumb on the fourth string and the middle finger on the second.

It’s easier to do than to explain!

As always, you’ll find the tabs on my Patreon page. Have fun learning!
