Nothing Arrived - Live from Spotify London - Villagers

Hi everyone, welcome back!

Today, I’m excited to share a tutorial for one of the songs that’s been a part of my Best Acoustic Guitar Songs playlist from day one: Nothing Arrived by Villagers, specifically the live version performed at Spotify London. In my opinion, this version is 300 times better than the original!

Now, let’s dive into the details. For the right hand, as always, I recommend starting with the bass line played with the thumb, which Conor J O’Brien kindly highlights in bars 26 to 29. Once you’ve mastered this, building the rest of the fingerpicking pattern will be much easier. While you can use your ring finger to pluck the first string when it’s played open, the entire song can be played using just your thumb, index, and middle fingers. As for the left hand, there’s nothing too tricky — it’s all about simple chords. Just pay close attention to the hammer-ons to get the feel just right.

Happy learning!
