Stolen Dance - Twin Bandit, Joshua Hyslop

This acoustic cover is one of the songs that inspired me to create my playlist "Best Acoustic Covers."

The artists behind it are Joshua Hyslop, a Canadian artist I had the pleasure of meeting personally after one of his concerts in Utrecht, and Twin Bandit, a folk duo also from Canada. They all offer a repertoire filled with high-quality acoustic tracks, including this cover. It's wonderful that all three sing and each plays a different plucked string instrument: acoustic guitar, banjo, and mandolin, which give the song an Americana twist. Not surprisingly, it has more than 60 million streams on Spotify!

Regarding the original song, I believe it speaks volumes. In my opinion, this was the hit of 2012, and I vividly remember seeing it on MTV, often right after "Somebody That I Used to Know" by Gotye.

As I mentioned in another blog post, I love the exchange of covers between artists, forming a wonderful network of musical interpretations. With this cover, my playlist includes Milky Chance covering The Weeknd and Joshua Hyslop covering Milky Chance, bringing everything full circle.
