The Art of Putting People in Their Place - Chance Peña

Hey everyone, and welcome to this new tutorial! Today, we’re diving into the first tutorial I’ve done for a song by Chance Peña: The Art of Putting People in Their Place. It’s the only fingerstyle piece from his latest album Ever-Shifting, Continual Blossoming, and I thought it’d be a great one to break down.

As you’ll notice, the artist may change, but the fingerpicking pattern stays the same — some things never change, right? Practically speaking, for the right hand, you’ll want to use your thumb for the bottom three strings, your index finger for the third string, and your middle finger for the second and first strings. That said, when it comes to the first string, feel free to use your ring finger if that feels more comfortable. As for the left hand, there’s nothing too complex going on — just basic chord shapes all the way through.

You can find the tabs, as always, on my Patreon. Have fun learning!
