No More Bad Days - This Wild Life

Hey everyone, and welcome to this new tutorial! This is our second lesson in a row without a capo — don’t get too used to it!

For this tutorial, I’ve chosen No More Bad Days by This Wild Life. I based my lesson on this YouTube video, but I made a slight modification.

As you’ll see, the band’s guitarist plays the high E by pressing the fifth fret on the second string instead of playing the open first string. If we were using a classical guitar, I’d say his approach is the only viable option, as it creates a more even tone between the notes and prevents the open E from ringing out when moving to the next note. However, on an acoustic guitar, these concerns aren’t as significant. That’s why I decided to offer an alternative in my tutorial.

Now, let’s talk about technique. The right-hand pattern should feel quite natural, as the bass notes — always played with the thumb — fall on each downbeat, giving the song a steady and consistent feel. In the verses, you’ll notice occasional back-to-back notes on the third and fourth string. When this happens, be sure not to use the same finger twice! Always alternate between index and middle for better fluidity.

The bridge and outro are definitely the trickiest parts for the left hand. Unfortunately, I don’t have any magic tricks to make them easier — just follow my fingering! If you don’t get them right on the first try, don’t get discouraged. Slow it down, practice at a reduced speed, and treat them as an exercise to improve your left-hand stretch and dexterity.

As always, you can find the tabs on my Patreon page. Have fun learning!
