Naked As We Came - Iron & Wine

To be honest, I should have posted a tutorial for an Iron & Wine song much earlier, but better late than never! I don’t know about you, but I had the pleasure of discovering this artist through the TV series *Afterlife*, where the song “Passing Afternoon” is featured. That’s when I realized just how many beautiful fingerpicking patterns this artist’s songs have.

One of these is “Naked As We Came,” which is the focus of today’s tutorial. As you may have noticed, the fingerpicking pattern isn’t particularly complicated. My main tips are to play all the bass notes with your thumb, the notes on the third string with your index finger, and those on the second string with your middle finger. Alternatively, you can use a thumb-index alternating pattern for the entire piece.

And here’s a little spoiler for you: the next song of his that I’ll be doing a tutorial for is “Each Coming Night”!
