Friday I’m In Love - Janet Devlin
Today, I'm thrilled to introduce you to one of my all-time favorite covers: "Friday I'm in Love" by Janet Devlin.
What makes this rendition stand out? Well, guess what? It features the captivating blend of acoustic guitar and strings that always draws me in. I have a soft spot for songs that weave these two instruments together, and this one hits the mark perfectly.
What enchants me about Janet Devlin's version is the way its elements are introduced gradually, building up to a thrilling crescendo. It starts with the gentle guitar arpeggio, then Devlin's vocals join in, followed by the enchanting melodies of the violin, and perhaps a hint of what I think is a mandolin (or a ukulele?) adding to the magic. As the song progresses, the drums kick in, accompanied by stirring backing vocals, until it reaches a climax of intensity that makes you want to jump.
Not only does this cover resonate with me on a personal level, but it also fits into several of my favorite playlists. Whether it's the "Best Acoustic Guitar Songs," "Best Acoustic Covers," "Acoustic Girls," or "Acoustic Guitar and Violin/Cello," this track finds its place. If you're a fan of these playlists, chances are you've already come across this gem. And if not, well, consider this your lucky day!
