Coco - Foy Vance
This past Tuesday, I went to my first Foy Vance concert, and I have to say — it was spectacular. I’ve always admired artists who seem completely at home on stage, as if it’s their natural habitat. Foy is a true entertainer.
One song that struck me the most, one I hadn’t heard before, was the first he played when he picked up his guitar: Coco. This song has an interesting backstory — Coco was inspired by Courtney Cox’s daughter. Yes, that’s Courtney Cox from Friends, who also directed the song’s official music video, which you can find on YouTube.
The song itself, which feels like a playful tease shared between Foy and young Coco, perfectly captures that pure, innocent spirit that only children have. It’s a beautiful translation of a lighthearted moment into music.
And can I just ask — why is it that every song played with a capo on the sixth fret sounds incredible?
