Atlantis - Acoustic - Seafret

Seafret is a British indie-pop duo made up of singer Jack Sedman and guitarist Harry Draper. Their name comes from the "sea fret," a soft mist that drifts in from the North Sea and covers their hometown of Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire. In May 2015, they released Atlantis as the lead single from their debut album, Tell Me It’s Real.

The song draws on the legend of Atlantis, a powerful island kingdom that sank beneath the sea. Sedman uses this imagery to reflect on a fragile romance destined to fail. Just like Atlantis, the relationship crumbled despite all the effort to keep it afloat.

In December 2022, they released an acoustic version of Atlantis with just vocals, guitar, and violin. In my opinion, this stripped-back rendition is even more powerful than the original. If you haven’t heard it yet, I’ve included the link below — don’t miss it!
