Tangelo - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Finally, I'm reviewing a song by my favorite band with which I grew musically: the Red Hot Chili Peppers. True fans know how some of their acoustic songs, which certainly represent a minority in their repertoire, are masterpieces. Just think of "Road Trippin'" from the album *Californication* and "Slow Cheetah" from *Stadium Arcadium*, to name a couple.

As I mentioned in another blog post, I love when a rock band decides to end an album with an acoustic track, but "Tangelo" is much more than just a closing track. It is a ballad with deep but bittersweet lyrics due to its multiple interpretations. One might think the lyrics speak of immense love for a dear person (perhaps a family member?) or about drug addiction. In any case, Anthony has outdone himself vocally, crowning his incredible evolution as a singer. The final "let’s pray" is nothing short of heartbreaking.

Musically, the melodies somewhat recall the Beatles, or more specifically, Paul McCartney's song "Junk." Instrumentally, this is the only track on the album where the drums are not involved. The protagonist is the melancholic acoustic guitar played by John Frusciante.

Needless to say, I added "Tangelo" to BAGS immediately after listening to it. Probably (small spoiler) I will also publish a tutorial on how to play it with the bass notes.

Please, have a listen!
