Pillow Scream - Will Knox

Will Knox was the artist behind the first concert I attended after moving to the Netherlands two years ago. It was at Cinetol in Amsterdam that I discovered the beautiful songs of Shedding + Blooming, a stunning album that features the track "Tattoo," a song I’ve been obsessed with ever since.

Two weeks ago, Will released a new album titled English Silence, made up of 11 tracks. For the first time in my life, I could say I was already familiar with many of the songs, having heard them live at three of his concerts that I attended.

The song I’ve chosen to focus on is Pillow Scream, yet another example of how Will can create masterpieces with just his voice and a simple guitar arpeggio. The song’s autobiographical lyrics reveal his growing awareness of how he hides his true thoughts and emotions just to please others. The sound perfectly conveys this feeling of inner tension.

Here’s the link for you!

P.S. For the guitarists reading this, I’m also including a reel where he shows how to play the song. As usual with his music, don’t expect standard tuning!
