Dear Someone - Savannah Conley

January is already blessing us with some stunning acoustic covers, including one by Nashville singer-songwriter Savannah Conley. After a period of hiatus, she has returned with an EP of one-take, heartfelt acoustic covers.

The first single is Dear Someone by Gillian Welch, a ballad about waiting for that special person to fall in love with. Savannah’s rendition stays close to the original, relying on the same simple combination of guitar and vocals. What makes her version truly stand out, though, is the intimate, almost familial quality it carries. As she shared on Instagram, Savannah grew up listening to her uncles softly sing this song together. And guess who plays guitar on her version? Her father, which adds an even warmer, more personal touch.

You can find the link to the song below, and it’s also featured on my Best Acoustic Coversplaylist. Trust me, it feels as if Savannah is sitting right next to you, singing just for you!
