Best Acoustic Covers - February
February also gifted us three beautiful acoustic covers that I’m excited to share with you! Each of these reinterpretations brings a fresh perspective to the original songs, proving once again how a great track can be transformed with a delicate acoustic touch.
Lose You to Love Me - Judy Pearson
First up, Judy Pearson’s stunning cover of Lose You to Love Me by Selena Gomez. Judy decided to keep the piano, the backbone of the original, and blend it with an acoustic guitar. This combination, when done right, creates a perfect balance, but too often, the piano overpowers the guitar. Here, however, the two instruments dance together in harmony, adding warmth and depth to the song’s emotional core. Judy’s version feels even more intimate, as if she’s letting us in on a personal conversation about healing and self-love.
Everywhere - Tom Speight, The Mayries
Next, we have Tom Speight and The Mayries’ take on Fleetwood Mac’s Everywhere. Some of you might remember that a while ago, I shared another great cover of this song by Marti West. Well, this new version is just as mesmerizing, which comes as no surprise when you have one of the kings of acoustic covers, Tom Speight, at the helm. He made sure to preserve what is arguably the most captivating element of the original: the harmonies. To achieve this, he enlisted the Swedish duo The Mayries—if you follow my Best Acoustic Covers playlist, you might recall their beautiful rendition of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Together, they’ve created a dreamy, stripped-back version of Everywhere that still carries the magic of the original, but with a delicate folk-inspired glow.
You Make My Dreams Come True - Riley Pearce, Gabrielle Aplin
And finally, what if You Make My Dreams (Come True) by Daryl Hall & John Oates was a folk song? Gabrielle Aplin and Riley Pearce answer that question with their gorgeous acoustic rendition. Gone is the vibrant electric guitar riff that defines the original; instead, we’re invited into a warm, organic soundscape where a single acoustic guitar and the duo’s tender vocals take center stage. It’s a reimagining that turns an upbeat pop-rock anthem into something intimate and heartfelt, perfect for a slow Sunday morning or a quiet road trip.
