Best Acoustic Covers - April
Luckily, April didn’t let us down either—some truly beautiful acoustic covers were released over the past few weeks, and once again I found myself with a solid handful of standout tracks worth sharing.
I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry - Muireann Bradley
First up is I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry by Muireann Bradley. I’m starting with this one because I’m currently in Nashville, and yesterday I visited the Country Music Hall of Fame where I learned more about Hank Williams. Muireann’s version is quiet and heartfelt, with her signature fingerstyle guitar and a simple, honest delivery.
Reminder - Ryan Harris
Next is Reminder by Ryan Harris. It’s one of the calmest songs from Mumford & Sons’ Babel, and it totally fits Ryan’s style — gentle, heartfelt, and stripped-down. He’s been playing it live for a while, so it was about time he finally released it!
die with a smile - The Macarons Project, figuers
Die With a Smile by The Macarons Project and Figuers feels like a crossover episode between two cover projects I recently discovered. They took a big pop song and turned it into something quiet and acoustic, which works really well. It’s mellow, smooth, and a nice surprise.
Wicked Game - Grass Version - Kurt Lee Wheeler
And last but not least: Wicked Game (Grass Version) by Kurt Lee Wheeler. I’ve always had a soft spot for his “Grass Versions,” and this one keeps the emotion of the original while adding a warm, earthy vibe. If you like this one, check out his cover of Times Like These too.
That’s it for April! Let me know which one you liked best — or if there’s a cover you think I should hear!
